“The Najrani dialect is characterized by a unique conversational exchange called “Muwajarah.” When you meet someone, you say “majour” (meaning “may God protect you from all harm”), and they respond with “Allah Ya’afik” (may God grant you well-being). You then say “Wa as-salama” (and safety), and they reply with “Allah Ysalmak” (may God grant you safety) or “Allah Ysalmak min kul shar” (may God protect you from all harm). The same person may repeat “Majour” and “Wal Salama,” and this back-and-forth is one of the distinctive features of the Najrani dialect.”
